In response, the White House Correspondentsf Association, which represents hundreds of credentialed reporters, said it gunequivocally opposes any efforth to limit journalists from areas that have long been accessible for newsgathering, gincluding the press secretaryfs office.h  
  
gThe new restrictions hinder the press corpsf ability to question officials, ensure transparency, and hold the government accountable, to the detriment of the American public,h the association said.

As CNNfs Jeff Zeleny explained, reporters routinely gwait in the hallh by the press secretaryfs office and seek information from communications aides. gWhen there is breaking news, that often happens,h Zeleny said.  
  
Now, greporters will only have access to a smaller set of offices of junior advisers, junior aides, junior press secretaries,h according to the White House.
