Smith, 27, was tried this week before Circuit Criminal Court Judge Jeff Wicks and a jury of seven women and five men on charges of first-degree murder in the Nov. 6, 2012, fatal hammer attack on his mother, 50-year-old Karen Neal.@@@@@@@@@@@@@ Jeron Smith@@Smith was found not guilty of first-degree murder, but he was convicted of second-degree murder, which carries a sentencing ran samba og ge of 15-25 years, court officials said.
