I believe what you said made a lot of sense. But, think about this, suppose you composed a catchier post title? I am not saying your content is not solid., but what if you added a post title to possibly get folk's attention? I mean %BLOG_TITLE% is a little vanilla. You could peek at Yahoo's home page and see how they create article headlines to grab people interested. You might add a related video or a pic or two to get people excited about everything've written. In my opinion, it might bring your website a little bit more interesting.
