Yesterdayrsquo inflation figures were even more damaging.The consumer price index CPI rate jumped to 2.9 per cent from 1.9 per cent in November; when the Vat hikes kick in, inflation is bound to rise above 3 per cent, triggering a sixth explanatory letter from Bank of England Governor Mervyn King, as previously predicted in this space.
