 Seems I have my priorities wrong. I'm concerned that maintaining a reasonable standard of performance at work and keeping up paddling regularly simply don't fit neatly together any more. I need to put first things first before the paddling begins to have a detrimental effect on my work. So...as soon as I get back I'll start on that resignation letter. Problem solved.  Do you mean that they will be happy to be recognised as trolls, or does chuffed mean outraged? Unfortunately, that seems to be the feedback from a lot of coaches who I talk to. The current system, as I see it, is inherently flawed to discourage coach development along the assessor lines? Keep going though mate!  13 stone in an Inazone 232 Mick...you should be fine, this is a 'big' boat by modern trends. Take note of the comments about not 'bouncing' your weight as you paddle. Are you leaning forward excessively? Leaning a little is fine but only that. Failing all else, look at the seat position, is it unbalanced? There are a number of excellent books - if you have a Scout Association Shop near you, look at what they have. Also the sea is pleasently "warm" compared to Hurley and rivers, making rolling bearable.
